The Ed Smith Elementary School roofs offered numerous challenges: technical, aesthetic and historical. The school is partially roofed in natural slate, while flat-seamed copper roofing, copper flashings, pre-finished aluminum and modified bitumen systems completed the complex roof systems. Historically significant features such as the cupola, were replicated and clad in copper. Bell & Spina was the 1st Place Winner of the 2005 Roof Consultants Institute’s “Excellence in Large Roofing/Waterproofing Project Documents” category.
